This is not correct. There are not many differences in the features that were added, but there are numerous differences in the underlying "build" of the system.
They moved around some things related to licensing.
If you want LAB licenses, I show you how to get them directly from Cisco. You can get them yourself, I just show you how.
If you want crack, I know how to do that as well.
If you want a real licenses, I have those also, and can show you how to install those as well.
No cons here. Real truth.

The ELM is using FNE to check the license every a few days or months. The only the hack the CUCM is cheat the trial database to extent the period of the trial license.
Cisco UCM 9.1.2 using flexlm 10.1 ECC as licensing method, so one can patch the public_verify function in java and customize a license generator by flexlm SDK 10.X.
CUCM 11.X are using flexlm 11.X with RSA 2048 verification. It is a little bit hard to crack, but one can still patch the RSA private key carefully.

You guys are correct, that article that is referenced will give you licenses, but only on 7.0 train.
